Grilled chicken with Indian spices

Grilled chicken marinated with cumin, turmeric, garam masala, mustard oil, sesame oil, ginger and garlic; tossed with coconut and sesame seeds.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 kg chicken thigh fillet or drumstick fillet, sliced to bite size
  • 2 tsp. minced ginger
  • 2 tsp. minced garlic
  • 1/3 cup of plain yogurt
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp chili powder (optional)
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp mustard oil
  • 1 tsp. sesame oil
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tsp sesame seeds, toasted
  • 1 tbsp. desiccated coconut

Method

  • Mix the chicken with all ingredients except for sesame seeds and desiccated coconut; preferably leaving in the fridge to marinate overnight
  • Brush a gridle with some cooking oil; in small batches, grill the chicken until cooked; toss in sesame seeds and desiccated coconut before transfer the chicken to a serving plate
