Asian Cabbage Omelette with Oyster Sauce (FODMAP friendly)

Asian style omelet with cabbage and oyster sauce

Ingredients

For the Sauce:

  • Oyster sauce mixture – 1 tbsp oyster sauce, mix with 2 tbsp water
  • Cornflour mixture – 1 tsp cornflour, mix with 1 tbsp water 
  • 1 tsp sesame oil

For the Omelette:

  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup thinly sliced cabbage
  • Some thinly sliced or finely chopped carrot (optional)
  • A few chopped green beans (optional)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • Cooking oil
  • Salt to taste

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Make the Sauce

  • Place the oyster sauce mixture in a small pan and heat gently.
  • Stir in sesame oil and cornflour mixture.
  • Cook until thickened, add a little water if the sauce is too thick, set aside

2. Cook the Cabbage

  • Heat a little oil in a pan.
  • Sauté cabbage, carrot and green beans for 3–5 minutes until soft.
  • Season lightly and let it cool.

3. Make the Omelette

  • Beat eggs in a bowl.
  • Add the cooked cabbage, carrot, green beans, and sesame oil.
  • Season with salt.

4. Cook & Serve

  • Heat a pan with a little oil.
  • Pour in the egg mixture and cook on low until mostly set.
  • Fold gently and cook a bit more for firmness.
  • Serve warm with the sauce drizzled on top.

    confusing recipe, must have read it through a hundred times still couldn’t fathom it out, I don’t normally have problems with recipes and I do a lot of cooking, something must have been lost in translation, the whole mess ended up looking like a stir fry, but tasted good, the main thing my wife loved it! Thanks Richard.
