'Salty-sweet-sour' chicken with soy, vinegar & preserved turnip

Sweet and sour chicken with ginger and balsamic vinegar

Sweet-sour-salty chicken with ginger, balsamic vinegar and Chinese wine.


  • 300g chicken thigh fillet, sliced
  • A few thin slices of ginger
  • 2 tsp dark soy sauce 
  • 2 tsp balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 tsp Chinese rice wine
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp of corn flour, mixed with 1 tbsp of water 
  • cooking oil
  • chopped coriander, to garish (optional)


  • Marinate the chicken with soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, sesame oil, Chinese wine and sugar
  • Heat up a frying pan with some cooking oil, add the sliced ginger, sauté briefly until aromatic
  • Add the marinated chicken, stir fry until cooked; add the corn flour mixture, stir briefly until thicken
  • Garnish with coriander if desired
